Flamed Maple Wood
“acer pseudoplatanus”

Switzerland.
The wave-like character of the wood structure is due to a botanical peculiarity that has not yet been fully understood: the wavy or curly growth. Flame maple is particularly sought after in instrument making.
The specially compressed wood is manufactured by Swiss Wood Solutions, a spin-off of Empa and ETH Zurich.
